4 1/2 Months

I'll start this one off with one of my favorite pictures of Travis. The ears are too cute!

Travis is almost five months old! I can't believe how big he is getting. At his last check up we found out that he is very long (close to the 75th percentile) and "skinny" (close to the 40th percentile). He has a cute double chin and baby leg rolls so he isn't that skinny! He has a full head of light brown hair that gets thicker by the day. The back is growing so long that he will have to get a hair cut at 6 months old. He is so close to sitting up on his own and he has the pre-crawling moves down. Today he rolled over from his back to his stomach for the first time! He had the help of his blanket, but he rolled all the same. He laughs out loud, he talks and makes funny noises (most recently the high pitched squeal that he loves so much), and he blows bubbles! Thanks for teaching him that one, Landon! :) He and Albert play UFC each night. It is really cute to watch. Albert and Travis growl and yell at each other and Travis grabs and chews his face; he will put his face against Albert's shirt and shake it back and forth. After enough shaking he will look up at Albert and smile!

I love waking up to his big smile each day. He is pretty happy for a baby that doesn't seem to sleep very much! He is teething now and it seems like we may be in for a rough road. He doesn't sleep much during the day and he wakes up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours each night. He chews on everything and he has started to drool. I am exhausted by the time he goes to bed, and then I don't get much sleep during the night so I am learning to function as a sleep deprived mom now.

Skyler loves him dearly. She has been a great help to me. She holds him and plays with him and talks to him if he starts to cry. He gives her hugs and kisses and smiles and laughs when she walks into the room. Skyler calls him "Buddy" and tells me everyday how much she misses him when she is at summer day camp. She is a wonderful big sister. It melts my heart to see how well she takes care of him and talks about how she is going to teach him things and protect him from "big kids" when he goes to school.

Travis has been to Disneyland a few times now. He is a pretty good baby when we go out anywhere. Very little fussing (unless he is hungry) and he enjoys being outside. He spent his first 4th of July with Grandma and Grandpa. They took him to visit his great-grandparents and watch fireworks. Albert and I went to the Motor Cross/Monster Truck Rally and Fireworks show at the Fairplex. We didn't want to take the baby because it was going to be crazy loud. He had a very good time and my parents love to spend time with him. My mom spent a great deal of the night trying to save him from the strange people that wanted to change his diaper and hold him! It's interesting how people will stop us anywhere we go to ask if they can hold him! I don't mind being told that he is cute, but I have an issue with the touching thing!
Travis is rarely called by his name. Skyler calls him "Buddy", Albert calls him "Boo Boo", my family calls him "Little T" or "T-Dog", my grandma calls him "Captain", and I call him "Bug". I started out calling him cuddlebug, lovebug, snugglebug, etc, then just shortened it all to "Bug". My nephews already had the names "Little Man" and "Little Guy" so he needed his own moniker and ended up with about 10!
I love spending time with him, have I mentioned that already? :) But he enjoys going to Auntie Lynette's house too. He plays with his cousin and has a great time showing off all of his new tricks. I am so lucky that I have somewhere safe and loving for him to be while I have to work!

OMG...It's Been How Long...?

Ok...so I didn't really stick to my goal of keeping my blog updated. :) I tried, but life has been so crazy the last couple of months that I let some things go. Now to the update...I absolutely LOVE being at home with my little guy. He changes and grows so much each day. It is amazing to watch. He can almost sit up by himself now. He quite frequently topples over because he is trying to get to his feet, which he is mesmerized by. He gets frustrated with his tummy time because he tries to get going somewhere but can't quite get anywhere. He can move a full 360 if he kicks enough. He likes to chew on his hands and he tries to fit the whole thing in his mouth. Then he will gag until I remove the hand and then give me one of his full face smiles. His eyes are a beautiful color of blue (still!) and he is developing two sets of dimples. He is such a loving, funny, wonderful baby!

He loves to eat his hands. He can almost fit the whole thing in his mouth!

Finally a First Grader!

Skyler is now a big first grader! She made it through Kindergarten with flying colors. She really enjoyed her first year of school, but she is ready for the "big kid" playground. She starts August 10th. Unfortunately we won't be on the same schedule this year, but I will be able to take her to her first day of school.

Almost Two Months!

Travis will be exactly 8 weeks old this Thursday! I cannot believe how big he is getting. I am so lucky to be home with him and watch him grow and develop. He has been talking more each day and he is making new sounds. He is so alert and spends a great deal of the day awake and looking around. I love talking to him and watching him smile! He keeps me sooo busy, I haven't been able to post in a while. Here are some of the newest pictures that Albert and I have taken.

Soccer Star

Skyler has been playing soccer for a few weeks now. She is on a team called the Sparkles. :) She isn't fully into it, but she likes being with her friends. She usually stands around on the field and once in a while she will try to kick the ball if it comes near her. We go and cheer her on every Saturday!

One Month

Travis is now one month old! He is filling out and getting bigger each day. He is learning how to drink from a bottle now because I will be returning to work soon. :( Skyler is becoming a very helpful big sister; she holds him more and talks to him. Hopefully this coming weekend we will be able to get his pictures taken.
Update: His eyes are still bright blue!!

Three Weeks Old

Travis is now three weeks old. He had his 3 week check up and we found out that he grew half an inch and he now weighs 9lbs 8 oz. He eats like crazy so the weight gain doesn't surprise me. He spends much more time awake and alert now. He will hang out for quite a while just looking around at different things. He has also started making cute little sounds and smiling more. Luckily, I was able to get some pictures with his eyes open. His eyes are still bright blue, I am hoping that they will stay that way. We'll see!

Skyler's Birthday

Skyler is now 6 years old! Her actual birthday was on March 11th. She was with her other mom this year, so she had a birthday party with her where she invited some of her friends. She was with Albert and I the next day so we had a simple little party with our families. She had a great time playing with her cousins and everyone was excited to spend time with Travis.

Two Weeks Old

Travis is already two weeks old! I can't believe how fast time flies. He is starting to develop a very strong personality. He makes it very clear when he doesn't like something. We now know that he doesn't like getting his diaper changed, taking a bath, being strapped in his carseat, being swaddled in a blanket, and sleeping at night. :) Hopefully he will learn to like some of the above listed things (or at least deal with them). But even with all of this, he is generally a very sweet and easy going baby. I am so lucky to be able to spend this time with him at home.

Nap Time

Travis is finally starting to sleep for a couple hours at a time during the night. Albert and I have now moved into the living room and we are taking turns sleeping on the couch and in the recliner while rocking the baby. That way we can get to him easily and watch late night TV while he eats or we try to get him to go to sleep. He is awake and alert now for quite a while during the day. I love to talk to him and watch him look around. Hopefully this means that he will start to stay awake more during the day and sleep more at night!

Travis loves to rest his head on Daddy's chin while he sleeps.

Baby's First Bath

Travis was given his first bath on Saturday. He wasn't very happy about it at all! He screamed the entire time. Hopefully he will get used to it soon. We used his new bathtub and it was great. We didn't give him the spa treatment yet. Maybe next time. :)
Baby Travis is NOT a happy camper!

Baby Travis

Travis had his first outing on March 1st. He had his first doctor's appointment. He handled it pretty well for the most part. We found out that he lost some weight. He weighed in at 7lbs 7oz. This is a lot less than the 8 to 9 pound baby that I was told to expect!

Travis finally sleeping. :)
I tried to get a close up and ended up making him jump from the flash. We still can't tell who he looks like. I think he looks like Albert. He has dark hair on his head, but his eyebrows and eyelashed are blond! He has some bright blue eyes right now. Maybe we'll break the dominant genes and he might end up with some of me after all!

Travis in his car seat for his first ride in the car. He wasn't happy about being strapped in the seat as you can tell from his serious face, but he did like the car ride itself; he fell asleep immediately!

Travis has Arrived!

On February 26, 2009 at 10:24 a.m., Travis Dominic Cisneros finally arrived! He weighed 7 lbs 14oz and measured at 21 inches long. I went into labor on Wednesday 2/25 at about 8:30 p.m. when my water broke. I still couldn't believe that I was about to be a mom! My labor lasted 14 hours; it was long, exhausting, and painful, but completely worth every moment of it. Now Albert and I are blessed with a beautiful, healthy, strong baby boy.

Finally, A New Car!

So I finally came to terms with the fact that I needed to get a "family car". I really wanted to get a Tahoe or Yukon, or some type of SUV, but with gas prices going up again I had to be practical. Albert and I traded in the truck and purchased a 2009 Nissan Altima. I like the car, it has a lot of neat features. I am still not used to driving so low to the ground, but it is nice to be able to park my car in a regular space! Also, it has been a while since I have had a trunk to put things in. Skyler can get in and out of this car by herself, which is a big plus. Soon Travis will be riding in it and then it will truly be our new "family car".

Baby Shower

My baby shower was awesome! It was held January 31st and the Spaghetti Factory. Good food, cute cake, family, friends, and such wonderful, thoughtful gifts! I couldn't have asked for a better day. Skyler had the time of her life and Albert was there also. He felt a little weird being the only guy (other than the two babies), but we needed the muscle to carry and load all of the things we received. :) He had a great time though. Now the waiting game begins. I can't wait to finally meet my little guy. I hope he will arrive very, very soon!
37 weeks and counting...
